Florence King, a self-described "conservative lesbian feminist," has an acerbic sense of humor in the tradition of Dorothy Parker and H. L. Mencken. In her 1989 collection, Reflections in a Jaundiced Eye, she wrote: "Pretending to be humorous is easy and a great many people are doing it." When it comes to humor, Florence King is no pretender.
