New hairdo - well, not really.
1. Blogformation.com - one of the world's first RSS search engines and portals, breaks 1 million pageviews!!!! - I was just checking the Google Adsense account and noticied it - yehah! I've also started work on a AJAX-based platform (Web 2.0) for it, to update the news on the home page automatically, and also summarizing changes in story topics (if wireless is popular this week, note that, etc). I just updated the look too:

Over 3 million page views as of Dec 2008!
2. New blog - http://www.jcallinan.com/b2/ - check it out to see more frequent updates and code samples from yours truely.
2 1/2. favoro.us - pump up your fav songs with this new music promotion web service and check out the favoro.us music news blog:
3. Tblurts.com - new blog, myspace place and shirts - within a week,
i should hit 200 products, and I'm hoping to hit 10,000 myspace friends within the month also. I'm trying out a new 'virtual company' business plan with it - no hosting, no paid ads, everything possible for free - MySpace, Froogle, etc. UPDATE: Over 50,000 products and 3.5 million pageviews ;)
3 1/2. YouTube Channel - http://youtube.com/jcallinan/ - I've organized some movies we made in high school (and soon to include some new stuff):
1980 Mercedes Benz 240D - My newest car, soon to be biodiesel. Maybe, not sure, it's so beautiful now, I hate to touch it :). More details and pic at the link.
4. Getting your business online and making money - Creating a successful web site is a big challenge. How do you capture your market? What’s the best way to implement e-commerce? How do you find a vendor, or should you design it yourself or with employees in-house? How much will this all cost?
Learn how to start marketing and selling on the web, how to optimize your current website operations, and the best practices used in web design. Through real world examples and case studies, learn about getting your business online. And, if you missed the class, view the powerpoint slides and some notes here.
5. eBay eBay eBay - check out my auctions. There's always something slightly interesting there. Let me know if you need help selling something.
6. Classes in Dreamweaver, VB.NET, C#.NET, and Web Server mantianence, among other things - I'm teaching some classes in Bradford PA at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. Click here for details on content and dates and times.
7. Achieve
online -
The latest issue of Achieve magazine, an online version of William Jewell's
college's print publication for alumni, should be online around the time
you read this. I've created and mantianed the online version of their
magazine for about 2 years now, it's a great publication, and the
college is a one of the nation's best values, according to Princeton
Review. It's a great college with a great group of people, so check
out the magazine and the college if you're heading for higher education.
Etc..... (things not as new anymore.....)
BMW 735i - my new car! An 88 with a
91 M30B35 engine with 208 horses. 0-60 in 8.3 seconds. ;)
Money
Money Money Money - Check out my JibJab style animation
about the accounting scandals - I know it's not the most advanced animation,
but someone may think it's funny. :) It has a large cast of stars - Bernie
Ebbers, Ken Lay, Dennis Kozlowski, Martha Stewart, execs from Adelphia
(Rigas) and Arthur Andersen enjoying the fruits of their 'labor' (you
can read more here) and the, ahem, reprocussions afterwards also. Please
let me know what you think about it, or if you want anything like
this done, it was fun so I would do it fairly cheap.
Biztalk - Sharepoint - CMS - These are 3 areas that I have been concentrating on lately. Please email me if you have any projects in these areas - or check out my resume. I'm currently pretty busy, but always available to talk and work on projects, and please let me know if you live in the PA or NY area and are available for ANY kind of development work. I get emails and phone calls every day from headhunters looking to give me work (and I hate to turn it down), however sometimes I'm too busy and it's too far away.
tblurts.com - Keep watching http://tblurts.com/ -
a new t-shirt site a few friends and I are doing. It's in the process
of finishing, still needs some TLC, but it's getting there. We use Wordpress
for the blog, and the design was by yours truly.
blogformation.com - Chromesplash.com returns as blogformation.com - it is a RSS search engine and online reader, specializing in technology oriented feeds, that caches RSS feeds, to give crazy techies something to do at work instead of increasing their productivity.
protocol 80 launches - Donny Kemick and I have launched protocol 80 corporation. We provide web design and development, web hosting, and custom programming.
Graduation !!!!! - I've finally graduated from Pitt- I guess it's time to update the resume ;). Learn about the school I went to and the opportunities I had there.
Donny
Kemick and I won an award for best
presentation at the Penn-York Undergraduate Research Association,
for a presentation on our work on steganographic content on the Internet.
Read more here:
Detecting Steganographic Content on the Internet - the research paper I worked on with Donny Kemick, a fellow student at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, and was sponsored by Don Lewicki, a professor at the Pitt-Bradford, and director of the Management Information Systems program. Steganography is the art and science of hiding information by embedding messages within other, seemingly harmless messages. The Internet is said to be a storehouse of steganograpic material. Rumors persist that terrorists are exchanging messages over the Net by using steganography.
jcallinan.com/Blog - keep an eye on me, and see if I do anything interesting. This is my blog to help store my random thoughts and anything interesting I find. You know how it goes.
Portfolio
- See some work I have done, and learn more about my capabilities - including
web sites developed in ASP, JSP, PHP, Microsoft's .NET, and others. Then,
if you want, contact me for more information. The portfolio uses Macromedia
Flash, which I have used on many projects also. It's pretty fun to
explore.
Resume - My current resume is available in several formats.
Publications & Software - Read some of what I have created for different subjects involving business in I. T., the Internet in general, issues in computing, and other topics. I've also included some applications that I have created that are available for free (as in Beer. The source for these have disappeared over time).
About Me - The obligatory 'About Me' section. You know it had to be here somewhere.
School - Read about the university (University of Pittsburgh at Bradford) I go to, and some of the unique opportunities I have had.
Old School - I keep everything, so you can find a lot
of the things I worked on in the past here:
suburban - Many many
years ago, I surfed the web for fun
, and shared that fun with other people.
suburban was my online magazine at the time.
The first jcallinan.com - This was when
I was really into Flash, and includes the creation of the jcallinan.com
caricature. There was a few more iterations of jcallinan.com after this,
but nothing ground breaking. This one was the most fun. :)
